Is Rural Solar Clean Energy Council accredited?
Yes. Our installations are completed by CEC-accredited installers and licensed electricians, using Clean Energy Council-approved panels, inverters, and batteries. Accreditation is what makes your system eligible for the federal STC rebate and battery rebate—an unaccredited install doesn’t qualify, regardless of what a cheap quote promises.
How much can I actually save on my power bill with solar?

What size solar system do I need?
System size should be based on your actual consumption and when you use power, not a standard package. Most rural homes we install sit between 10kW and 25kW—noticeably larger than typical metro systems—because rural properties run pumps, sheds, workshops, and cold rooms. We review 12 months of bills and your daytime load before recommending a size.
Do you do commercial and government solar projects?
Yes. Alongside residential work we deliver solar and battery systems for commercial sites and government projects, including insurance and claims support for reinstatement works and mandated upgrades. Commercial systems are designed around your operating hours and demand profile rather than household usage patterns.
Can you upgrade or replace my existing solar system?
Yes. System upgrades are a large part of what we do—adding panels, replacing an ageing or failed inverter, or retrofitting battery storage. If your system is 8–12 years old, the inverter is often the first thing to fail, and upgrading usually delivers better returns than repairing. We assess what’s worth keeping before quoting a full replacement.
What happens if something goes wrong after installation?
We handle it. Rural Solar provides ongoing maintenance and support, plus system monitoring so faults are identified early rather than showing up as a surprise power bill three months later. We also manage warranty claims with manufacturers directly instead of leaving you to chase them.
How do I get a quote, and does it cost anything?
Quotes are free. Call 1800 207 728 or submit the enquiry form and we’ll discuss your property, usage, and goals. For most jobs we’ll want to see 12 months of power bills and details about your roof or ground-mount options. There’s no obligation and no cost for the assessment.
How long does the whole process take from enquiry to switch on?
Typically 4 to 8 weeks. That covers the site assessment and design, network connection approval from your distributor, the installation itself—usually one day—and then your retailer reconfiguring the meter. Properties on the Ergon network in regional Queensland can take longer if a technical assessment is required, so it’s worth starting early.
Is solar worth it on a rural or remote property?
Usually more so than in the city. Rural properties tend to have higher power bills, larger daytime loads from pumps and sheds, more roof or ground space available, and excellent solar irradiance across inland QLD and NSW. Less reliable grid supply also makes battery backup genuinely valuable rather than a nice-to-have.
Do you install ground-mount systems as well as roof-mounted solar?
Yes. Ground-mount solar is often the better option on rural blocks: better orientation, no shading, no roof penetrations, and easier access for cleaning and maintenance. It’s ideal where the house roof is aged, small, poorly oriented, or already crowded. We assess roof, shed, and ground-mount options together at quoting stage.
Do you offer hybrid and off-grid solar systems?
Yes. Hybrid systems combine solar, battery storage, and a grid connection so you can use stored power at night and keep essential circuits running during an outage. Fully off-grid systems suit properties with no grid connection or where a new connection would be prohibitively expensive. We’ll advise honestly on which makes financial sense for your site.
What makes Rural Solar different from a metro solar company?
We’re built for rural properties, not adapted to them. That means understanding SWER connections and export limits, ground mounts and shed installs, three-phase farm supply, and properties hours from the nearest town.
